buy custom The Social Security Act essay The social security act was drafted by the presidents committee on economic security during the Roosevelts first term under Frances Perkins and was passed by the congress as a section of the new deal. The main objective of the act was to attempt to limit the dangers in the modern America that involved the aspects such as unemployment, old age, poverty and the issue of widows and orphans. Therefore, when President Roosevelt signed the social security act, he became the first United States president to advocate for and show support for the assistances to the elderly and the poor. During the past congresses that have been held in the United States in relation the issue of the social security act in the United States. Several have been passed and at the same time several have been rejected, among the current legislations include the H.R. 4529 social security act, the representatives Paul Ryan introduced the H.R. 4529 act by the name the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Pros perity Act of 2010 on January 27 (Jed, 2010). The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 was a roadmap for the future of the United States of America future act of 2010. This act entailed the personal social security savings program, the advanced indexing for the benefits old individuals and spouses, the improvement of minimum benefits, an amendment to the increase in the normal retirement age and the self settling social security transition fund. The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 is a proposal at a state level due to the fact that its intentions are that of regulating and standardizing the interests of the of the interests of a given population of individuals at a given state of the United States of America (Winston, 2006). The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 is a legislation that has the goals of provision of health care reforms, job training, the social security system and the tax code in individuals and in business. This would be implemented by ensuring that workers who have the age of 55 years or younger in the years 2012 will redirect a piece of their workforce tax to the contributions to individual accounts in a voluntarily manner. From the year 2012 top the year 2021, the workers would be permitted to retransmit 2% of their taxable salaries to a base amounting to $10,000 in 2012, indexed to ordinary wage progress afterwards which would be followed by a 1% of the taxable earnings that are remaining in each account of an individual. Overtime, the sum of Social Security funds that could be redirected to the accounts owned individually would rise. The legislation had a proposal that from the year 2022 to the year 2031, the workers redirection would be at a rate o f 4% in all the taxable earnings and a base quantity and 2% of remaining taxable salaries. From the year 2032 to 2041, workers would be permitted to redirect 6% of taxable salaries up to the base sum and 3% of remaining taxable salaries. For all the calendar years after the year 2041, workers would be permitted to redirect 8% of taxable salaries up to the base sum and 4% of remaining taxable salaries accounts owned individually (Winston, 2006). The values of this legislation act Individuals who took part in the process of the personal savings account would get the guarantee and the assurance that that the persona; savings account balance at annuitization would not be less than their aids that have accumulated as a result of inflation. This legislation act would also have the values of the provision for special general revenue transfers as required in order to assure trust fund solvency and too in provision of special transfers to the general fnd of the treasury that would ensure an offset of any prior general revenue transfers as far as the trust fund solvency is maintained (Maynard, 2010). The social conditions surrounding the roadmap for the future of the United States of America future act of 2010 The Ryan proposal has a lot of social challenges that are surrounding this legislation, these includes the different standards of lives that are present among the both the old and the young.. This proposed act is aimed at eliminating most of the Medicaid in the health insurance in the children. This program will ensure that families from the low income families get assistance and the privilege of their children get aces to quality Medicaid and health insurance just like the children from the high income families. Most are the societies that have people who live a life that has no tomorrow, these people have either disabilities and thus can not do much or either they live below the poverty lines. When it comes to the provision of Medicaid and health services, the low income families in the United States are much hit since the new tax credit plus the low levels of income is much smaller to buy the comprehensive health insurance (Maynard, 2010). Under the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 by Ryan, his plan is majoring on poor children who loose a vey vital Medicaid benefit by the name the early and periodic screening, diagnostic and treatment services, these services ensure that these individual from a poor social status get regular and comprehensive health screenings plus have the access to full cover to for all the necessary Medicaid (Stanley, 2007). Historical links the act of The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 A previous public policy that has much links to the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 is the legislation by the number S. 857/H.R. 1776 and by the name (Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2005, the link between the two acts of the public is based on the fact that the two legislations have similarities. The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2005 was also a legislation that was presented by Paul Ryan, he called it a companion measure (H.R. 1776) on April 21, the year 2005. The measures of this act were to permit workers under the age of 55 to redirect a percentage of payroll taxes to charitable accounts of individuals. From the year 2006 to 2015, workers would have been permitted to redirect 5% of covered salaries up to a base sum ($10,000 in 2006, indexed to salary progress afterwards) and2.5% of remaining protected salaries to individual accounts. Beginning n the year 2016, workers would have been permitted to readdress 10% of covered salaries up to the total sum and 5% of remaining covered salaries to the individual accounts. Workers who were taking part in the individual accounts would receive an issue of the benefit credit certificate or the recognition bond to reflect the value of benefits accumulated under the customary system. The recognition bond was to be a certificate that would have been redeemed at retirement, despite the value of accumulated benefits would have been reduced to replicate the workforce taxes redirected to the employees account the measures would have provided account members a double monthly payment as a result of traditional benefit plus annuity benefits. At least thus would have been equal to benefits scheduled under current law which necessitates that workers choosing not to partake in individual accounts owned individually would have received traditional Social Securiity profits. The measures would have been a provision of six indexed investment accounts, inclusive of a nonpayment lifecycle investment account with a probable normal investment combination of 65% parities and 3 5% fixed income mechanisms. Once the workers account balance stretched to $25,000 (indexed to inflation), a supplementary investment choices would have become available to him or her (Stanley, 2007) By critically looking at this act, it is looks like the mother of the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010. This is due to the fact that it has been founded and by the same individual by the name Paul. This is a clear indication of the need of this act to be passed as a bill since after five years; a revised version of this act is brought into debate by the same individual (Jagadeesh, 2010). Supporters of the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 The possible supporters of the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 are likely to be human rights activists and some of the major politicians. These are the individuals that represent the common individual that is not in a position to present his or her grievances the higher table of the social security acts. Politicians who both the include the republicans and the democrats are likely to support this act in favor of their people back at their home aces who live in social surroundings that do not favor them to receive quality Medicaid and fundamental factors that are necessary such as the comprehensive health insurance. Human tights activists are on the other hand much likely to support this bill as it has the implementations that are in favor of the individuals who live below the poverty lines. Therefore, as a result these two supporters are likely to support the Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 (Jagadeesh, 2010). Players who oppose The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 The individuals that have a part of the salaries redirected to other individual accounts are one of the greatest individual opposing this act. This is due to the claims they make based on the fact that some of them too live below the poverty lines and therefore that percentage o their taxes poses as a big blow to them. The other individual that are likely to oppose this act include the medical insurance companies. This is due to the fact that according to their research conducted by them; this will increase the number of individuals that con not are in apposition to afford quality Medicaid and comprehensive health insurance (Maynard, 2010). The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 is a social justice in the fact that it engages in activities that entails the advocating for diversity in; matters such as the support for the less advantaged issue in the society, one of these include the child from the poor social status backgrounds. This act is evident to be an element of social justice via caring for the Medicaid and health insurances for the less advantaged children and generally the poor (Jagadeesh, 2010). On my own standpoint, The Social Security Personal Savings Guarantee and Prosperity Act of 2010 should have bee put into much considerations in order to improve its chances of it being passed into a law. This is due to the fact that most are the individuals have less or no access to vitals factors such as the availability of Medicaid and health insurance. Among the many aspects that have been brought forward in favor of the social justice, this act could be probably one of the most effective. Buy custom The Social Security Act essay

Analytical report on the mediation process Essay - 1

Analytical report on the mediation process - Essay Example Mediation is based on standards of problem-solving that highlights the requirements and interests of the contestants; equality; confidentiality; freedom and the best interest of all parties. These principles are planned to support and lead public, private, controlled, and obligatory mediation. The way of execution and mediator devotion to these principles may be subjective to local regulation or court law (Goldberg et al, p. 259). Mediation is practical support of an impartial third party. The responsibility of the mediator is specifically to facilitate the parties in finding their own acceptable, feasible solutions by being an efficient catalyst and providing organization, focus, and support with communication. The function of the mediator is to offer impartial, neutral help from the position of someone with no other attachment or investment in the result of the argument. Mediation has a high rate of fulfillment. Parties who have arrived at their own modified agreement are usually more expected to pursue through and stand for and adhere to its terms than those whose agreement has been forced by a third-party decision-maker. Parties that discuss their personal agreements have more power on the result of their argument and gains and losses are more knowable when they retain the decision-making authority than when results regarding the outcome of arguments are turned over to external third parties. Mediation involves reciprocally acceptable contracts in which all parties have at least a few of their interests met to the level that they are ready to support the general agreement. Mediation assists in maintaining continuing associations. Mediation agreements, which cause negotiated solutions that concentrate on all of the parties’ requirements (a win-win situation), are much better capable of preserving present and future working associations than win-lose procedures. If a future working association is essential, an agreed

Terrorism Part 2 ( 15 minute presentation) - Essay Example This country has Islam as the dominant religion. The president of Egypt by then was known as President Sadat. He was perceived by the terror group as a person who was unable to restore the Islamic Sharia law and therefore, considered a failure. Previously government of Egypt had made promise to the people that those laws would be implemented. Contrary to their agreement, the government did not implement those laws. Instead, the government continued to empower women by implementing laws to protect their civil rights therefore going against the Islam norms where in women are considered inferior to men. The second cause for the formation of Al-Jihad is the formation of Israel as an independent country. Israel is a Jewish state, which was carved out of Palestine, with the help of the Americans and other European countries. In addition, Israel as a country had always been at loggerheads with Egypt concerning the borders. In contrast, Israel is a Jewish state while Palestine is a Muslin state. The group viewed it as an enemy of the Muslim and Arabic nations. Other Islamic terrorist groups such as Al-Qaida also seconded this view. Consequently the group Al-Jihad, decided to engage in terror activities in order to force the Egyptian government to take action. They first thought of assassinating the President of Egypt, President Sadat. On October 6, 1981, the group managed to conduct their first terror activity, which was the assassination of Egypt’s president. They then carried out terror activities by trying to capture some towns in Egypt to be under their administration. However, they were not well equipped to do this and as a result, their efforts were frustrated. It is important to note that Al-Jihad was initially formed by combining two militant groups; one based in Cairo led by Farraj and another from upper Egypt, which was led by Karam Zuhdi. The succeeding president of Egypt president Mubarak used

There is one exception, the pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs so they can get oxygen ad remove carbon dioxide. Blood is delivered to the arterioles and capillaries trough the systemic arteries. There are three types of arteries. The elastic artery which allows the arteries to stretch. The muscular artery is the most common. There are little or no elastic fibers. They are very strong but not flexible. The arterioles are the smallest of the arteries. They are very important in blood pressure control. The aorta is an elastic artery and is the largest artery in the body. It delivers blood to all parts of the body. The aorta is divided into five sections the descending, ascending, aortic arch, thoracic aorta and the abdominal aorta. http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/36874/artery 2) The capillaries are the smallest blood vessels. They have only a tunica intima. They are very fragile and easily destroyed. They have no smooth muscle. The continuous capillaries are the strongest and do not leak. They are found mostly in muscle. Fenestrated capillaries are found in the kidney, pancreas and intestine and are leaky. Sinusoidal capillaries are very leaky and have many pore openings. They are located mainly in the spleen, liver and bone marrow. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capillaries 3) The vein carry blood toward the heart. Veins act as a blood reservoir. There is a low pressure in the veins and they have a thin wall. There is a muscular pump which the veins are placed between skeletal muscle. When the vein is squeezed blood is returned to the heart. The respiratory pump involves the diaphragm. Vein consist of three parts. The tunica externa which is made up of connective tissue and nerves. The tunica media is composed of smooth muscle and the tunica intima is composed of simple squamous. Veins also have valves to prevent blood from flowing the wrong way. http://www.blobs.org/science/article.php?article=54#4 4) The arterioles are the smallest of the blood vessels. They extend from an artery and lead to a capillary. They have only little muscle mass and contain smooth muscle. They carry blood away from the heart as well. They are very important in blood pressure regulation. They change size to keep up with the flow of blood. http://highbloodpressure.about.com/od/highbloodpressure101/p/circ_art3.htm 5) Atherosclerosis is when plaque build up inside an artery and causes a blockage. It is caused by damage to the endothelium. Cholesterol starts to stick, smooth muscle grows abnormally, calcium starts to stick and gets stuck in plaque causing it to get hard. The plaque can rupture and cause blood clots. If the plaque breaks it can move in the blood and cause a heart attack or a stroke depending on where the blockage is. It is a slow progressive disease. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4440

The Paradox of Revenge in Edgar Allan Poes The Cask of Amontillado Ess

The Paradox of Revenge in Edgar Allan Poe's The Cask of Amontillado ?The Cask of Amontillado? raises a question pertaining to the multiple character of the self (Davidson 202); Can harmony of one's self be restored once primal impulses have been acted upon? This question proposes the fantasy of crime without consequence (Stepp 60). Edgar Allan Poe uses first person point of view, vivid symbolism and situational irony to show that because of man's inner self, revenge is ultimately not possible. Edward Davidson suggests that Montresor, the main character of the story, "has the power of moving downward from his mind or intellectual being and into his brute or physical self and then return again to his intellectual being with his total self being unimpaired" (202). However, Poe tells this story from Montresor?s point of view. The use of first person narration provides the reader with insight into Montresor's inner struggles. First person narration is Poe's method of insuring the reader understands that Montresor is not successful at this harmony. The thoughts and feelings of Montresor lead the reader to conclude that he is not successful at revenge. Montresor says in telling his story, "You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however that I gave utterance to a threat" (153). By communicating in this way, the question arises of who Montresor is actually speaking to, and why he is telling this story fifty years later. One can only conclude that it is for one of two reasons: he is either bragging or finally giving confession. As he tells the story, it becomes obvious that he has not yet filled his need to win, and now a half of a century later, is still struggling with his conscience. As Gregory Jay s... ...onscious self is obsessed with an evil, the conscious must overcome it or a paradox will result in which both selves parish. Works Cited Barbour, Brian. "Poe and Tradition." Dickens created Essay

All the characters that Dickens’s has labelled criminals, Toby Crackit, Mr Chitling and Kags Adress and respond to each other very sarcastically and also very aggressively, in a way that suggests to the reader that they are not all friends as you first think and that they have no loyalty to each other and are just with each other because they have the same basis of work and business ethics. Fagin is described in chapter 50 as he is getting arrested as a rough, battling character struggling with the police and being all muddy and bleeding, Dickens has put Fagin in this situation which could best describe him and what he is all about, not necessarily his features, but his links with the police and his links with crime. Dickens describes the main criminal in chapter 50 at his lowest point, when he enters that room with his fellow criminals, ‘Blanched face, sunken eyes, hollow cheeks, beard of three days’ growth, wasted flesh, short thick breath; it was the very ghost of Sikes. This sentence is full of short descriptive sentences that are saying to the readers that Sikes is destroyed, he has been hiding away for the crime of murder and is just a translucent figure of Sikes when he used to be a strong and ironically ghastly figure with no power, Sikes is now battered, Sikes has now got nothing and Sikes is on the run! Leading up to the climax of chapter 50 Dickens describes the mob of Londoners chasing down Sikes in the tight alleys and roads of London, he depicts them as a crowd of a ‘strong struggling current of angry faces’ that are all out after Sikes ‘the murderer’, Dickens has used those descriptions to show the sheer scale of the force wanting to capture this one man, a current of people, suggesting it is like a river of people flowing along the streets. Later in the scene an old man cries ‘I will give fifty pounds to the man who takes him alive’, fifty pounds in those times was an enormous amount of money which again shows the sheer scale of the wanting of this man. The climax is ultimately the death of Bill Sikes in this chapter, when Sikes is on that roof ready to try his escape Dickens finally de-humanises the villain at last by instead of calling him Sikes calling him ‘the murderer’ to tell the audience just exactly what he is, which is nothing. The way Dickens depicts the death of Sikes is very dramatic in the way that he dies, jumping off a roof and accidentally hanging yourself isn’t the best way to go or the most common in any story, Dickens used this way of death to give justice, melodrama and a gothic feel which would add real feel to how the audience would feel at the death of a person who has been hated by most throughout the whole story. The speed of Sikes death is quite important, the use of verbs such as staggering, tumbled, which is when Sikes loses his balance and goes over the edge of the building. Sikes death is also set at night time to add a little more drama and a chase factor to the dramatic end. The noose in those times was common for convicted murderers to receive when arrested, so for Sikes to die in a noose was justified in the end. Dickens had a message to the reader in the end of this chapter which is to draw attention to a range of social injustices in those times, which means a lot of people getting away with crimes which obviously dickens felt strongly about, Dickens didn’t just simply tell people about this he used a range of techniques to excite the reader and to please the reader. Overall Dickens created this chapter to avenge Nancy’s death, we know this because Sikes cries ‘The eyes again! ‘ referring to Nancy’s eyes. Which leaves the reader feeling happy about Sikes death and making the reader want to read his next edition in his paper.
